In conjunction with our good friends at Foxrock Cabinteely GAA, we are proud to launch new Go Games Referee Interaction Guidelines for referees, coaches, parents, and spectators across both clubs.
These guidelines have been created to support our Go Games stars and to help ensure a positive, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved. We have taken the relevant GAA/LGFA guidance and simplified it into an easy-to-follow format, with valuable input from our referees themselves.
This is a fantastic initiative that clearly outlines the standards and behaviour expected when our young superstars take to the field.
In Go Games (U7–U12), the referee is a facilitator. Many of our referees are “First Whistlers” — young club members aged 15–17 who are learning and developing in their role. Their protection, encouragement, and development are just as important as the players’.
The key message is simple: we are all behind them and supporting them.
No Ref, No Game.
Let’s all play our part in keeping the sidelines positive and respectful. Remember:
- These are children
- This is a game
- Coaches are volunteers
- Referees are human
You will begin to see posters around the clubhouse highlighting these guidelines and reminding everyone of the standards we expect as a club community.
